I am delighted and excited to be captaining the 1st team once again.  It’s a real honour to be backed by both the players and the club.  I know that all the players are excited for what should hopefully be a defining season for us.  With the addition of a top professional in Jay Bista and a team which has gained another year’s experience at the top level in Devon, we go into the season with eyes wide open to the challenging task ahead. 

Our plan is very simple, to retain Premier Division status and play entertaining cricket along the way.  Cornwood has a tradition of being involved in nail-biter matches and I expect there will be more of these coming our way in 2022.  I feel we have the infrastructure and support to become an established Premier Division cricket club.  There’s a great batch of younger players coming through who are hungry to do well. They will be playing alongside more experienced senior players, many of whom have grown up at the club.  I’m excited about this blend, which should become a good recipe for success.

On behalf of the senior men players, I would like to thank all our club volunteers behind the scenes, who work tirelessly for the good of the club, and also all the team sponsors and match sponsors for their generous support.  

We look forward to welcoming everyone at the home of cricket. Fingers crossed for a Covid-free, sunshine-filled summer, with plenty of entertainment thrown in!
