The Pension Drawdown Company, Chartered Financial Planners based in Torquay, are delighted to be continuing their support and sponsorship of Cornwood Cricket Club. After last years’ successful backing of the Colts team, they have gone one step further and are now sponsoring the men’s 1st XI team for the forthcoming season. Cornwood will be kicking their Devon Premier Division campaign off with a home fixture against local rivals Plymouth CC on Saturday 7th May.
This sponsorship comes in addition to the club main sponsors, Ivor Dewdney Pasties Ltd who have provided stalwart support of the club since 1998 and have helped to shape the club into the dynamic entity it is today.

As a firm, we thrive on teamwork and talent, so we think it is important to support local grass-roots sports to help them develop in the same way. Cornwood 1st XI will be competing for another season in the topflight Devon Premier Division, after finishing in 7th place in 2021. The club is one of only three in the county to have four men’s teams entered in the Devon Cricket League. Having so many teams, provides playing opportunities for all ability levels and Cornwood CC are always willing to welcome new players to the club. Major project work has been taking place over the closed season which will allow the club to offer a tremendous hospitality package to members and visitors in 2022. A new fully fitted and expanded kitchen will further extend the fantastic club facilities in the pavilion, making Oak Park the place to both play and watch cricket in 2022. If you’re a cricket lover but more of a spectator than a player, social membership is extremely good value for money with a couple able to join for just £25.00 for the whole season.
Cornwood CC also run a ladies team which participates in the Devon Women’s Cricket League. There will also be a softball team competing in matches against other local clubs this season. New lady players are always welcome, regardless of experience. A keen eye for the ball and at least a mildly competitive mindset is all that’s needed. Training starts outdoors from 11th April
