Huge thanks to our dedicated club statistician and historian Simon Travers for writing such a remarkably detailed article. A compelling read.

When we get nearer the start of the season will need the help of our fantastic club members to help get the club ready for action.

We are signed up to the ECB Cricket Collective "GET SET WEEKEND" on 5th and 6th April, but ahead of that we will have a preliminary working weekend on 29th and 30th March.

Please attempt to put in a shift on either / both of these two weekends to help with the many tasks that are on the list.

If you click on the image above you will be able to advise by email, what day(s) you can offer your support, which will help massively with the planning effort.

If we get a big number in attendance, we will send a photo to the ECB in the chance of winning the club some valuable recognition for its committed volunteer community.

Pre-season training is well and truly underway

Indoor nets at Plymouth College for men, women and older age group junior hardball squads are taking place on Tuesday evenings from 8 to 9.30pm.

Additionally we are running indoor softball training sessions for women's softball and other junior teams at Ivybridge Community College on Monday evenings.

If you'd like to know more about these dates then just send us a quick email and we can provide the necessary details.   We aim to start outdoor training from week commencing 7th April... more details to follow.

Save these dates please ....

  • The club will officially open its doors for the 2025 season on Good Friday (18th April). After light training sessions for our junior sides we are intending to hold a Club Quiz Evening hosted by club member Simon Travers. Pease have a think about combining forces and forming a team of between 4 and 6 persons which must contain at least one junior club member.

Catering services will be available and bar open in the evening, so get the date in your diary now and help us to celebrate the new season start in style.

  • Ahead of the above, there will be work to do to get the club ready for action. We plan to hold two working weekends on 29/30th March and 5/6th April. Help will certainly needed from our club members, so please can you pencil in some hours over this period. Job lists will be defined and tasks allocated in advance where possible. Please let us know if you available to assist. Our next club message will provide a means for doing so.

  • Our first pre-season friendlies at Cornwood will be on Sat 19th April. A double header at home against Paignton CC will take place on both pitches. Full details of our pre-season fixture schedule will be out soon. Highlight is likely to be a home tie v Truro CC in the ECB National Cup on Sun 27th April.

Catering Services in 2025

We are building a healthy team of volunteers to help with our regular catering offerings at the club this coming season. The mission is to make our volunteers life easier by sharing around the workload.

Many hands really do make light work !

If you feel that you could spare a few hours on either a Friday evening or Saturday afternoon, then we'd love to hear from you. It doesn't mean a regular weekly commitment, perhaps you can offer one in two, or one in three, in fact whatever you can offer, we will hugely appreciate.

The club will be committing to a local catering provider to make our Saturday cricket teas for 2025 (more details out soon), but we will still need a number of volunteer teams help to serve up, pack away and clean down, probably taking about 3 hours. Could you do a few of these over the summer ? - maybe talk to pals and form a small team - but please let us know.

We are in the process of setting up a volunteer app which will make it easy to advise your availability and we will train everyone who is able to help.

If you're able to join our happy band of volunteers, then please let us know by sending a quick email to;

Just advise what you think you may be able to offer and we will get in touch.

Genuinely, every little, helps, thanks.
